Technology
Literacy Standards
& Sample Lessons K-8,
July 2003 |
We
have adopted the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS)
as a base for our ICSD Technology Literacy Standards. NETS introduces
their standards with the statement:
| To
live, learn, and work successfully in an increasingly
complex and information-rich society, students must be
able to use technology effectively. Within an effective
educational setting, technology can enable students to
become:
- Capable
information technology users
- Information
seekers, analyzers, and evaluators
- Problem
solvers and decision makers
- Creative
and effective users of productivity tools
- Communicators,
collaborators, publishers, and producers
- Informed,
responsible, and contributing citizens
|
|
Notes:
-
Technology
skills are usually best taught when infused into ongoing curricular
activities.
-
Cross
grade level collaboration (i.e., K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8) will
be necessary to assure that standards are addressed at each
grade level.
