Guess who just turned 100 years old?
We did! And we celebrated our 100th year with some great events. April and May 2006: Photos and drawings of the orchestra in rehearsal are on display at the Tompkins County Public Library through the end of May. This is the result of a collaboration between the orchestra and IHS art classes, who sat in at our rehearsals - in the auditorium and on stage, listened to us and captured us "in action." The results are phenomenal, with some of the images transformed through computer imaging magic, and the imagination of our creative students.
June 1, 2006: Our gala concert, featured the return of past conductors, a gathering and reception of alumni (we've heard from one former member from 1938!) and a concert by the current IHS orchestra that included a piece written for us for this occasion.
