 Salamanca, New York

The Chautauqua-Allegheny Region, in the western part of New York state, is bordered by Lake Erie to the west and the state of Pennsylvania to the south.

The region is named for the 22-mile long Chautauqua Lake and the Allegheny River.

Allegheny State Park offers valleys, forests, beaches, hiking trails, campgrounds, picnic areas, and museums.  Allegheny State Park is the only portion of New York state that was never covered by glaciers.

The Seneca-Iroquois National Museum in Salamanca is located in this part of New York.

Cities in the Chautauqua-Allegheny Region include Jamestown, Chautauqua, Ellicotville, Mayville, and Salamanca.
