Ithaca topography Written by Paula Long    Topography is the study of Earth's surface shape and features. Here is a topographic map of downtown Ithaca, New York. Google maps screenshot 5-11-09 This map is also a street map and labels the streets with their names and highway numbers. This map uses color to show us where bodies of water and park lands are located. By darkening certain areas, the creators of this map show us where there are hills and valleys. Can you tell where the inlet flows into the lake? Can you see where Fall Creek flows from Beebe Lake down to Cayuga Lake through Stewart Park? Do you see any other creeks on this map?
