Gulch

a deep ravine or valley that fills with water when it rains

 

Plain

a large, flat area of land

 

 

Brook

a small stream

Gulf

a large area of sea that is partly surrounded by land

 

Plateau

an area of high, flat land

Canal

a waterway dug by people

Harbor

a place where ships shelter or unload their cargo

 

Ravine

a deep, narrow valley with steep sides

 

Canyon

a deep, narrow river valley with steep sides

Inlet

a stream or river that flows into a larger body of water


River

a large natural stream of fresh water that flows into a lake or an ocean

Coast

the land that is next to the sea

Island

a piece of land that is surrounded by water

Sea

the body of salt water that covers most of the earth; a body of salt water within an ocean and partly enclosed by land

Creek

a small stream, usually one that is larger than a brook and smaller than a river

Lake

a large body of fresh water surrounded by land

 

Stream

a body of flowing water, especially a brook or small river

 

 

Glen

a narrow, secluded valley

 

Mountain

an area of land that rises to a great height

 

Valley

an area of low ground between two hills, usually containing a river


Gorge

a deep valley with steep, rocky sides

 

Ocean

the entire body of water that covers about 71% of the earth's surface


Waterfall

a river or stream falling over rocks from a high point to a lower point
