New York State Capitol in Albany - University Art Museum Albany 5/221/09

The Capital Saratoga Region, also known as the Capital District, includes the counties surrounding the state capital city, Albany, in the eastern part of New York state.  The region is south of the Adirondack Region and north of the Hudson Valley Region.

The Capital Saratoga Region also includes the city of Saratoga Springs, named for the mineral springs that made the community famous in the 1800's.

It is about 190 miles from Ithaca to Albany, the center of the region.
